A new breed of fashion designers from SoFA Design Institute recently had their graduation show at the Bench Tower at Bonifacio Global City. They told their individual stories through collections that evoked love, euphoria, distraught, melancholy, aspirations and more. SoFA believes that before any external inspirations, the starting point of a design process is about the designer himself or herself. The students were encouraged to delve within themselves and create an autobiography and translate the intangible to become a physical reality through a gruelling process. The result- a dramatic melange of creative pieces that reflect their stories presented as a visually stunning fashion runway spectacle.

ENA CUIZON
Ultra mod, visually stimulating, and electrifying that tells a story about incomplete lonely beings hidden under a mask – the dizzying vibrance of Tokyo’s lively urban jungle facade.

HANVI KIM
“IMBALANCE”
It’s all about discovering a middle ground despite inequity. This unusual marriage of lighted flowers and a variety of fabrics is a fashion collage of stark differences amalgammated harmoniously.

CHEYENNE SAROL
“CROWNING GLORY”
It was all about the designer’s longing for a head full of hair sixteen years ago. Today her mostly jet black collection is a glamorous addition to that glorious crown.

DENESSE RAMIREZ
“PERSPECTIVE: BREAKING TO BREAKTHROUGH”
Break free from hopelesness and see life’s beauty was it’s message. This also shattered the confines of convention when embelished dresses were paired with broken acrylics to become lovely ensembles.

AL REY ROSANO
“SANCTUARIUM”
The designer’s celebration of faith was retold in glorious colors. His voluminous collection definitely speaks volumes about a fulfilling and blessed life.

AARON PAATAN
“HOMO AUTOMATA”
An almost cinematic sci-fi experience. Awesome, impressive, imaginative, quirky yet haunting. It strangely reminded us about human vulnerability as glitched beings in a perplexing universe.

ZIA FERRER
“STORGÉ”
This was all about the Zia’s unconditional love for her parents. It was no doubt a labor of love symbolized by a gazillion strings to form infinity knots in painstaking detail.

GILIANNE PABLICO
“GREAT DESIRES”
Spreading positivity, nurturing beauty and focusing on the good like this collection’s multicolored embellishments that add quirkiness and delight to a chic ensemble.

KRISTINE SANGGALANG
“IN HER WORLD”
For empowered women oozing with self confidence. Those long fringes attached to metal rings were more than just unique details. We perceived it to be symbolic of strong auras emanating from within.

AUREA VINLUAN
“SINTA”
Love so tender, true and pure is as delicate, beautiful and luscious as this collection in sublime white. We could visualize this fashion ode to everlasting love in an avant garde wedding.

VERÓ AVILA
“COEXITS”
An illustration of Vero’s clashing of two worlds that came together to mold his entire being. Glitzy and candy colored. We think it’s space-age Ken meets Barbie glam for the loud and proud who is not afraid to face the world and stand out.

BRIX BATALLER
“PHASES AND FACES”
A person’s multilayered identity that continuously changes like the moon is reflected in these creations in a dramatic display of outrageous ruffles and luscious overlays.

JOANNA NGO
“EUNOIA”
A chaotic gathering of fabrics ingeniously and harmoniously put together as an ethereal earth toned beauty is Joanna’s expression of maturity and well being after what she went through with her life.

BELLE VILLANUEVA
“MY TRUTH IS ONLY AS REAL AS MY BELIEF”
If Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, is a real-life fashionista she would’ve worn this. But she’s just a myth, a fantasy, like Belle’s spellbinding and romantic collection inspired by her own make-believe reality.

PATRICIA SAMULDE
“DULCE BELLUM INEXPERTIS”
The scarlett and white ombre, and convoluted vein like weaves can be merely perceived like a bleeding ensemble that tells a story about tragic love. It’s elegance is hauntingly beautiful.

IRIS DRIZ
“IRIS”
Iris was once content in her comfort zone, until she slowly went out. The weaves and folds represented her journey. The gown was thick and heavy but imaginative, just like how life is – it ain’t easy, but that’s the beauty of it.

ELOIZA CHANGAT
“EPITOME OF IGOROTA WARRIOR”
From a proud northern tribe, the Igorota faced the war of inequality with her weapons: heritage, unique culture and dignity. She fashionably wins of course in high style with local fabrics and masterful detailing.
