Last May 20, 2018, to put an explosive conclusion to the town’s Puto Latik Festival, the town held the pageant which not only values the beauty of the face and the body, but also intellect, charm, and talent. Scott “Renz” Lomboy was awarded as Mister Biñan while Stephanie Yap was crowned Miss Biñan. This was at the Alonte Sports Arena and the event was graced by Congresswoman Len Alonte herself.
The chairman of the board of judges was haute couturier extraordinaire, Albert Andrada. The other judges include Lourd Ramos (Creations Salon), Liza Montenegro (TV personality), Hillarie Parungao (Miss World Philippines), Monika Sta. Maria (Asia’s Next Top Model), Hideo Muraoka (celebrity model), and Raven Renz Lansangan
Both of the contestants went home with PhP100,000 in cash. Stephanie stated that she like her fellow candidate who gave such a candid answer in the Q & A section of the pageant, she will eat good food with her family, friends, and supporters first. Then, she will save the rest to help her parents pay her tuition fee. Renz, who finally won after his fifth pageant (the others were different pageants), gives this advice to young men who would like to compete: “Magtiyaga lang po sila at ipagpatuloy nila ang pangarap nila. Dapat po make their parents proud all the time.”
Marc Vence Jhon Mislang (Zapote) and Khristine Hammond (Soro-Soro) were declared 1st Runner-ups while Maoi Farcon (San Vicente) and Jayme Esguerra (San Antonio) followed as second runner-ups. The runner-ups also received cash prizes.
The event was organized by Lumina Events headed by Bernard Maybituin. The overall facilitator was Bimbo Sta. Maria, an academician who’s a native of Biñan and has been working on behalf of Biñan for many years now.
